Enclosed Auto Transport Services
Enclosed Auto Transport Services are for extra special vehicles, like classics or antiques, and exotic vehicles. These are special because of how each vehicle is treated. These transports usually will cost about 30-50% more than standard transport but well worth the price for vehicles that need the protection.
While the average insurance for open carrier is one million for all the cars onboard, the average insurance on enclosed transport is $500,000 per vehicle, and $1,000,000 liability. Insurance on the carrier is verified to be in good standing at the time the driver is dispatched. All carriers are “SAFER” screened prior to pickup . This is our commitment to protect your investment.
There are two kinds of enclosed transporters. Hard side and soft side. Hard side look like your normal tractor trailer as pictured above. They are completely closed off. Soft sided have heavy duty tarps that can be rolled up or pulled back during loading and unloading. We do not recommend the use of soft side however it is an alternative that would save about 10%.They are good for rush or expedited moves when time is if the essence as they are more abundant among our licensed subcontractors. Although rain, snow and the heavier elements are deflected, they not sealed off completely and vehicles can arrive with dust or water spots that can get through the tarp.
The average shipping per mile on open transport is about 50-75 cents a mile, and can go up to over dollar a mile in more rural areas where there is very little movement. This also influences pick up times as spots reserved in more common routes will be picked up between one and three days and more remote locations could take up to a week in general
